CISSP Domains (CBK®)
CISSP candidates must demonstrate competence across the following eight domains:

Experience Requirements
- Minimum: 5 years cumulative, full-time experience in two or more domains of the CISSP CBK
- Waivers:
- 1 year waived with a post-secondary degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s) in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 1 year waived with an ISC²-approved credential
- Part-time work and internships may count toward the experience requirement
Candidates without the required experience can become an Associate of ISC² after passing the exam, and will have 6 years to earn the necessary experience.

The CISSP was the first credential in information security to meet the stringent requirements of ANSI/ISO/IEC Standard 17024, making it one of the most respected certifications in the field.
Job Task Analysis (JTA)
ISC² conducts regular Job Task Analysis (JTA) to ensure the CISSP remains relevant to modern industry roles. This process updates the exam content to align with the responsibilities of today’s cybersecurity professionals.
CISSP CAT Examination Details
The CISSP exam uses Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) to evaluate candidates.
- Exam Length: 3 hours
- Questions: 100 – 150 (multiple choice + advanced items)
- Passing Score: 700/1000
- Languages Available: English, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese
- Testing Centers: Pearson VUE (ISC² Authorized PPC and PVTC Select centers)
